Great organizations have the right people on the right team, in the right roles

Jim Collins was right when he stated in his modern-day business classic “Good To Great” that what separates great organizations from good organizations is the ability to get the right people on their teams and in the right roles. The number one determinant of an organization’s ability to execute on its goals and achieve its mission is the quality of the people on their team.

Conversely, without the right people in the right roles, an organization cannot effectively accomplish its mission

No matter how important your organization’s mission, no matter how good your vision for a solution, without the right team, your organization will struggle and fall short of its potential impact. Research shows that strong teams are diverse, equitable and inclusive; this is especially important in the education sector given the diversity of the students, families, and communities that we serve.

John has a deep belief in the power of people to transform the world, and he is passionate about helping them do so.

John is an executive with experience in the private, nonprofit, and religious sectors. Over the last 13 years, John has seen firsthand how placing the right talent into the right roles at an impact-driven organization can be transformational, for the organization, its mission, and the people involved.

I’ve been in education my entire career- as a teacher, instructional coach, team lead, curriculum designer- and have truly found my home in talent and people development. I love that I get to match mission-driven organizations with passionate people and watch the magic happen! When I am not working on our next marketing campaign you can usually find me on the Outer Banks of NC in the summer and a cozy coffee shop in the winter. Ana has been recruiting and hiring top talent for non-profits and school districts for over a decade, including Teach For America, KIPP, and YES Prep Public Schools. She has reviewed thousands of job applications and conducted countless interviews for roles ranging from teacher to C-Suite Leader. Prior to her work in Talent, Ana taught middle school Math and Science. Thought it’s been several years since her time in the classroom, Ana considers herself a forever educator and focuses her career coaching on not just helping her clients create strong resumes or update their LinkedIn profiles, but also teaching them the strategies that will help them build their brand and navigate the job search process. In her spare time, Ana loves being outside with her family, cooking, and discovering new restaurants.

I bring over a decade of non-profit experience. 8 of those years I worked in Denver public schools and in higher education, mainly with at-risk and (many of them) first-generation students on various college campuses. Outside of work, I’m glad to be a noun verbing through this world. I code for fun, but desire to be outside for a good hike. I am energized around people, but enjoy my silence.
