About John Troy,
Founder of WorkMonger

John has a deep belief in the power of people to transform the world, and he is passionate about helping them do so. John is an executive with experience in the private, non-profit, and religious sectors.  Over the last 13 years, John has seen firsthand how placing the right talent into the right roles at an impact-driven organization can be transformational, for the organization, its mission, and the people involved.

John began his career as an investment banking analyst at Citigroup in New York. Out of a desire to utilize his business skills to benefit the local community, John switched to the non-profit sector where he ran a community service non-profit organization named EPIC Adventures, served as the Director of Community Service and Finance at The Journey Christian Church in Manhattan, and helped start Church Leader Insights, an organization dedicated to equipping pastors with the leadership and organizational skills necessary to effectively run their churches.  Most recently, John served as Executive Director of the Southern Region for Education Pioneers, a non-profit organization focused on bringing top talent into the public education sector.  In this role, John oversaw operations for Texas and Washington, DC, launched operations in Tennessee and New Orleans, and managed relationships with mission-driven clients across all four geographies.  During his tenure at Education Pioneers, John managed a team that successfully placed over 500 individuals in paid positions in the public education sector.

John attended Texas A&M University, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. John also earned a Master of Business Administration with a focus on Social Entrepreneurship from Duke University, graduating in the Top 10% of his class. While at Duke, John served as Co-President of the MBA Net Impact Chapter. John lives with his wife Ashley, young daughters Grace and Emmeline, and yellow lab Jasper in Austin, Texas, where they are members of Austin Ridge Bible Church and enjoy hiking, kayaking, live music, and great Texas brisket. John also serves as the President of the Board of Directors of Wayside Public Charter Schools.
